Your way to a better hearing

Easier communication may be just a step away. The sooner you act the better. Hearing aid can markedly improve the ease of communication and quality of life for yourself and for your family, friends and colleagues, who will find speaking with you much less of a strain.

Every hearing loss is individual, posing its own special challenges for the best amplification. Today’s hearing instruments are highly advanced – and can be very discreet. Digital technology can be precisely tailored to your particular needs and can provide better speech understanding in noisy environments and further suppress unwanted sounds such as the hum of a refrigerator.

Improvements have also been made in the designs of the different hearing instruments. Some are very discreet; some are small and can easily be hidden within or behind the ear.

Step 1

Your first step is to recognise your loss of hearing.

Step 2

When recognising your hearing disabilities you must see a hearing care specialist for a hearing test. On the basis of the audiological evaluation the diagnosis are done.

If you have a conductive hearing loss, you’ll be referred to an ear, nose and throat specialist for further treatment.

If you have a sensorineural hearing loss you will be advised to make use of hearing aid instruments.

The test

A human ear with a normal hearing ability can detect a wide range of frequencies from 20 Hz to 20.000 Hz. A standard hearing test concentrates only on the range of frequencies between 250 Hz to 8.000 Hz relevant for understanding speech.

We test both your ears separately, as you might have different hearing loss on the left and/or right ear. The test is performed in a quiet test environment by use of a specially calibrated audiometer.

Our key observations for the different frequencies are at what level you begin to hear the sound and at what level does the sound become uncomfortably loud. The test result is presented to you as an audiogram.

The test result for each ear is compared to a “normal” hearing.

The doctor or test performer will explain the meaning of the results and the effect of your hearing loss in your everyday.

Step 3

At step three, we will advice you which kind of hearing instrument that will suit your needs best, whether you need one or two instruments, and how to get the most benefit from them.

A hearing instrument is personal and shaped to fit your ear precisely and listening preferences.

Step 4

Adjustment of your hearing instrument.
