Tympanometry is a test that is used to measure the function of the tympanic membrane and the middle ear system. /Tympanometry.gif)
Tympanometry is a useful test in detection of diseases of the middle ear.
A probe is inserted into the patient’s ear canal and air pressure in the ear canal varied. The probe then measures the size of the ear canal and the movement of the ear drum and ear bones, as well as the air pressure in the middle ear. This enables the doctor to know if there is any disease affecting the ear drum and middle ear causing hearing loss.
The test is painless, but you might feel some pressure in the ear.
The Tympanometry test at Danica Hearing Centre is fully computerised and results are obtained within minutes and are interpreted by the doctor.
