A hearing loss affects many aspects of your life: not hearing the phone or the doorbell ring, missing key information at meetings, and losing the thread of conversation at a party.

Hearing is essential for communication, not only the words, but also nuances in the voice, determine the meaning of what is said. Our sense of hearing is useful for our orientation, e.g. an approaching vehicle is often heard before we see it.

Quality of lifeApproximately one in five people between the ages of 40 and 60 suffer from some kind of hearing loss – and many are not aware of this problem. Hearing loss usually occurs gradually over time, making it hard to notice until it has become advanced. People with hearing loss simply forget certain sounds, like the singing of the birds. However, they find their life greatly improved when using a hearing aid.

Scientific surveys show that hearing impaired people benefit from a higher quality of life when they use hearing aids. They report better relationships with their families, higher self-esteem, improved mental health and greater independence and security.
