Otoflex - Tympanometer meassures the mobility of the eardrum.
It is a new developped instrument from GN Otometrics.
it has arrived to the Danica clinic in Nairobi.
Danica Hearing Centre can offer possibilities to draw objective conclusions about function of the ear. The patient does not have to indicate whether he has percieved something.
A small meassuring microphone is introduced into the ear canal. The patient is asked to be silent for one minute. A certain sound is presented. The instrument meassures the effect and the result is shown as a graph on the screen.
The clinic can now diagnose when the ear is filled with fluid which is called "glue ear".
It can also meassure "otosclerosis" in which the stapes is immobilized.
